May Book

Our book for May is Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. I'm excited to get started on it! Emily says that there are three copies in the Albuquerque libraries and at least one in Rio Rancho. She also has a copy that she can lend. We will meet at Emily G's house on Wednesday, May 26th at 8 pm.

March Book Club

Hey all! March's book club will be held at Karen's house on Wednesday, March 31st at 8:00. She has chosen two books, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. They are great and really easy reads, so everyone should be able to fit them into their busy schedules. Karen has a copy of both books if anyone needs to borrow them. I can't wait to talk about these books! We'll see you all there :)

January's book club was great with Nikki hosting. Everyone had read the book, so the discussion was very good! Nikki W will be hosting next month's meeting and has chosen as her book, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. We will meet to discuss it on Wednesday, February 23rd at 8:00.

I heard that everyone had a great and LATE night at Michelle's for book club! Thanks to Michelle for hosting & for making it so fun. January's book club will be at Nikki F's house and the book that she's chosen is The Help by Kathryn Stockett. She says you can get it on Amazon for 10 bucks. Hey everyone! Thanks to all those that made it out last night. We had some great discussion on the book and also made plans for 2010. Book club will be held on the last Wednesday of the month at 8:00. We decided that for June and July, we'll just pick a movie that's coming out based on a book and go see the movie for book club. The hostess will pick the book for the month that she hosts.

November's meeting will actually be held on Tuesday, December 1st at Michelle's house. The book will be Belong to Me by Marissa de los Santos. If you plan to attend, please contact Nikki Frashour to get directions. Thanks!

Movie

The Time Travelers Wife premiers tomorrow night, but I'm thinking it would be better to go see it a little later in the month. That way we can avoid a sold out show and probably have a better turn out, since this is officially the last week of summer break and lots of people will be out of town. Either Saturday the 22nd or 29th would work. Everyone chime in and let me know which date works best for you and I'll make the arrangements. Talk to you guys soon!

So, we all got together to go to the premier of My Sister's Keeper and it was SOLD OUT!!!!! We ended up seeing The Proposal instead, which made us laugh instead of cry - not such a bad trade-off :) After the movie, we went to Pappaudeaux and ate DELICIOUS desserts. A fun night was had by all. Thanks to all who came out. When we reschedule the movie night, I'll let everyone know. In the meantime, you guys can get started on our next book, The Time Traveler's Wife. We're planning on attending the premier on August 16th. (Next time I'll buy our tickets in ADVANCE - I promise!) My Sister's Keeper Premier!!!!!

Okay girls - the time is almost here for the premier of My Sister's Keeper. Unfortunately, it's not playing at Cottonwood, so we're going to have to go to the Century Rio. The movie starts at 7:35, so I figure we can all meet at my house at 6:30 to head over and get good seats. Afterward, we can all go out for dessert! If you know for sure that you're going, just let me know so we'll know how many to wait for. Can't wait! See you guys there :)

My Sister's Keeper

Thanks to Nikki for hosting book club last month. There was some really great discussion and delicious food from each of the countries represented in Eat, Pray, Love.

Our book for June is Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper. We'll read the book and then go see the movie together on opening night, June 26th. I just finished the book today and it was great! I have to warn you guys that it's definitely a tear-jerker. I cried so many times that I lost count, but loved every minute of the book.

Can't wait to have a fun GNO to see the movie! I'll post the details as we get closer to opening night :)

Okay, I know I totally dropped off the planet for the past several months, but I'm finally back. We're starting again strong in April with the book These Is My Words. I'm not sure who the author is, but once I find out I'll let you know. Everyone who has read it has good things to say about it, so I'm excited. September Book

I'm hosting this month and have chosen the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. This is one of the best American novels in my opinion and it's always nice to revisit a favorite. Since most of us have already read this book, it should be easy to read again. We'll watch the movie at book club and compare and contrast the film with the book. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there! Also, it works out better for me to have it on the 4th Wednesday instead of the third. So it will be on September 24th at 8:00 at my house.

Yeah! The final book is finally here :) I'm starting to read it tonight and I'm totally excited - I'm sure I won't be disappointed! Book Club is going to be held at Karen Skousen's house next Thursday, the 21st. Please everyone come and we'll have a good time. **Spoiler Alert** I'm sure that we'll be discussing every aspect of the book, so don't come if you haven't finished reading it yet, because we'll definitely spoil it for you. That being said, I'll see you all there!

Okay girls, this month's book is The Host by Stephanie Meyer. I just finished reading it and I have to say that I totally loved it! We're going to meet on Wednesday, July 16th at 8:00. We had a really great time discussing this book at Andrea's last week. We also decided that the book for June is going to be A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hussein. Book Club Blog!

Okay, I decided it's about time that our book club had a blog, so here it is! The book this month is Where are You Now by Mary Higgins Clark. It will be held at Andrea Rice's home at 7:00 on Wednesday, May 28th. This is a departure from the 3rd Wednesday format that we've had because Andrea has company that week. We will continue meeting on the 3rd Wednesday in June. We still don't have a book for June, so anyone that has suggestions, please feel free to post them. The July book will be Stephanie Meyer's new one, The Host.
